For those who have or have used both the MBP 15 and the 17, how would you compare their keyboard & trackpad layouts, in terms of comfort to work on?

I love the 17 screen when I see it briefly at the Apple Store, but wonder if it would be comfortable enough to work on without a separate mouse or keyboard. The 15 feels more comfortable to type with, but it doesn't have the same screen real estate or high resolution option that the 17 offers. I'm just not sure about the 17's distance between the keyboard and the edge of the computer or the gap between the trackpad and the keyboard.

Anyone gotten a 17 and wished they'd gotten a 15 because they couldn't get comfortable working on it?

Thanks

When I have used the 17" at the Apple stores, I always feel like they are wasting space on the palmrest that could be given over to an even larger and more awesome trackpad. Heck, I feel that way about the 15" as well since I have the MacBook where the trackpad is most of the depth of the palmrest area, so it is sizable in ratio to the rest of the machine, but is smaller in respect to the machine on the 15 and 17" macbook pros.

Real shame if you ask me.

I've used both extensively. At first, the palmrest area of the 17" seems too large and somewhat awkward, but I've come to prefer it now.

Thanks. Are you bothered at all by the distrance between the trackpad and the keyboard?

I almost always use a mouse because I've never really liked trackpads. When I do have to use the trackpad, I don't recall ever having given it a second thought. It doesn't bother me at all.
