keynote export to powerpoint problem

I am having some major issues with exporting keynote to powerpoint.

My keynote file is 400 kb. When I export it to powerpoint, it's 22 mb! I took out all of the transitions but I can hardly believe how gigantic of a file it is in powerpoint. What's wrong?

Problems with Keynote to Power Point

It seems as though this is a fairly common occurence (has happened every time that I have tried it to me) but no one has an answer or work around. There is no posting on the minimal apple support site (I guess no one even bothers to go there) and nothing out on the web that comes up in the first 20-30 listings of every variation I could think of.

And since there are NO options to the export it is doubly frustrating as there is nowhere to turn.

If you have had any luck with this insane problem please let the rest of the community know.

P.S. worst case for me has been a 184k keynote file turning into 1.8MB as a ppt file. WTF? 10X the size?
