I noticed the slide for the new air showed “pro video encoding” and “decoding”. Anyone have any idea what that means? Can this somehow make prores files? Is FCPX on the iPad near? Why else would it say that?

This could indicate that the A14 SOC design is applicable to Macs too (they won’t need the current co-processor approach). Of course, that makes pro video apps on iPad even more feasible too.

It's simply a marketing slide to present the custom IP blocks found in Apple silicon.

In the past, they put a slightly more detail like "HEVC encoder."
