Hummmm...
Pretty confusing with all those choices out there!
I just got an apple tv 2, updated to the latest FW (4.3, 2557)
I am trying to JB it with SeassonPass, got the OK from SeassonPass but it seams that its only the tethered JB... =*(

How do I get it JB Unthetered?

Thanks guys

I'm not sure. I found the ATV 2 does everything I want, and pretty reliably, using the stock firmware.

A lot of the format are not playable....
how do you guys plug HDMI and USB at the same time?! there is like no space for the cables =(

Man, just convert the content to an ATV compatible format. I use iFlicks and its much easier than jb'ing the thing.

I ultimately found that JBing my ATV2 wasn't worth it as the firmware does 90% of what I hope for, but Hulu would be nice so I could put my Roku in another room and not have to combine the two to stay cable-less.

I also tried to JB and ran into issues, finally just gave up. I already went through the effort of encoding all of my personal DVD and TV shows, not really that bad and for any future stuff i will just convert as i get it so not that hard to keep up with. I was trying to JB to add some additional content like Hulu but that is not really that easy even if you JB the ATV.

I think I am just going to pick up a roku and just use both units.

Don't give up. JB 4.3 8f455 is kind of touchy, mainly issues with using the correct mini cable and/or having to boost with the power cable until you get into DFU mode. However, once you get it JB'd, you can SSH in Nito TV, and that is a great start. There are tons of great websites and links about loading in things like XBMC, Navi-x, Hulu, etc... It really is amazing how many resources are available. I am glad I stuck with it, and have truly enjoyed it.

coool!
thanks guys! I got it it was easy! i was unsure because the new vers. of seassonpass no longer place the seassonpass channel on the main menu... So my ATV was JB all along =)

It really is that easy though, if you can copy and paste some command lines in terminal for XBMC & nitoTV and simply download and drag and drop a zip file you can get Hulu & Icefilms.

Gahau - Good deal, yeah I noticed that as well. SP should put some kind of notice up that it no longer creates a menu :D

Theres nothing to learn, a 10 year old can do it

To be fair, I struggled like ****** when I was first trying to figure exactly how to get my ATV2 properly JB'd. Now, I know I'm 37 which means I'm not nearly as tech-savvy as your average 10 year old but I've been using computers since I was 10.

Now I've gotten my iPod and ATV2 done I've re-jailbroken both a few times (just to fine tune some things) and now I think I could do it in my sleep.

Unfortunately, I have a feeling that when IOS5 comes out the whole process will change so we'll see what good that does me.

It's been a while since I jail broke my ATV 2 using season pass. Plex and XBMC make it worthwhile for me. Now there an untethered version that I'm interested in.

Quick question: if I upgrade to the latest JB will I have to reload all my JB apps?

For some yes it does seem to work, I tried several times and kept getting the same error https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1188724/

I love our two ATV's and they are great at running all of my iTunes content, plus Netflix and YouTube. I just am wanting more content, was really hoping for an app store for the ATV, but if it is not announced in the next few weeks i think we will not see one until the ATV3. The ATV3 is about a year away (imho). I have no problem using two box's was leaning to a Boxee box but now thinking about a Roku2.

Did you end up modifying your etc/hosts file or not.....? :)

Hello everyone!

I am using seeas0npass for the first time on my macbook..
my itunes is updated, i have the latest version of seas0npass, and my file hosts are not pointing to cydia via tiny umbrella..

What else could I be doing wrong...

For some reason I feel im not getting atv2 into dfu properly..is that a common error?

What are some other common errors with seas0npass?

I used to use green poisi0n rc6 i think in my past JB experiences......

Man I'm lost..

Thanks for any help
