Kindle Fire HDX

Just went to the Amazon page and found out about the new Kindle Fires. Surprised that nobody is talking about them yet

EDIT Looks like the 7" HDX is an answer to the new Nexus 7 while the 10" HDX is an answer to the Nexus 10. And both HDX models have the Snapdragon 800 processor which is the most powerful chip on the market right now. Very surprising to find these processors in a budget tablet.

Same here, just happened to see them.

Watched the 3 commercials for the HDX models which all feature their live help button. Gotta say it looks pretty cool -- you actually get to see the person (not that that helps you get help in any way). They take advantage of the request for help to highlight different features. I'm a bit surprised though at the general nature of the questions they are using. Seems like they should not want people to be poking the help button to ask things like "what are some good children's videos?" (not an example they used but not too far down the line from ones they did).

Pretty good specs for the price. However I've already looked at them as much as I'm going to, and will be getting an iPad 5 next month (hopefully).

I think the only way I would ever get one is if it is supported by CyanogenMod.

they look very good! Hopefully this will push Apple further, one area the kindle Fire's have smoked the iPad on is the speakers, according to early reviews the new HDX models have the same great sound and with the new cases the speakers are not muffled when laying the tablet flat!

All I know is, I love this new trend that Google/Amazon have started where doubling the storage doesn't break your wallet. Love the pricing points of each storage option.

It really goes to show that Apple's "premium" (<- some might have a different word for it) pricing for doubling storages are outrageous. Heck, Apple's so called "premium" pricing can be outrageous, period ( :cough: multi-year old hardware of the iPad Mini :cough cough: )

Google was rather foolish to put past years soc in the n7. Qualcomm next soc fastest offering will have to be in the n7 to stay on top of the 7 inch war.

Oh well, at least it doesn't have a rear camera.
