Known MagSafe cable issues?

My 2009 MB, which is usually plugged in and charging, has had the MagSafe cable pulled out dozens of times. Now, it only charges intermittently. I have to reposition it and be cautious not to disturb it so it charges.

Is there a known MagSafe cable issue or do I likely have a jacked up connector on the the side of my MacBook?
