I've just seen knuckle gestures in action & think they're genius. For a smartphone to distinguish the end of ones digit to a knuckle is impressive because it opens up many more easily accessible features on your device.

Have a look at how a side-swiping knuckle gesture instantly activates split-screen on the Huawei Mate 10 Pro @26:10

The other knuckle gesture highlighted in that video is a double-tap screenshot. There are many more for that phone apparently.

I'm not sure how long Android phones have had this for, but this is a pretty big deal imo, especially when Apple are veering toward a gesture-based UI for the iPhones.

Good to see progress happening elsewhere. Hope Apple takes note.
 
Many of those gestures are either not intuitive enough or not useful enough. I believe a gesture should give the most sense for a task, not just for exciting factor. This knuckle one, for example, is less intuitive and unlikely to be discovered easily.
