A new version of Konfabulator has just been released. Yahoo bought the product a while back, and it is now called Yahoo Widget Engine. The Mac version still exists

I still think K! is inherently superior to Dashboard in some ways (Desktop level widgets), but this Yahoo thing is really rubbing me the wrong way, and as time passes it rubs harder and harder...
I make life more bearable on my parents' Dell by using Konfabulator. I actually like it alot more than dashboard. Far more control over the widgets, I think.
Konfab is obviously so much better that the next gen version is copying the Dashboard with it's approach with the security-assurance installation approval.
Also:
It took an inordinantly long time to install.
I had to change my preferences back to what they were.
I had to entirely re-activate and configure some widgets.
It entirely deleted one widget.
It actually installed 19 further widgets that I didn't want with previous versions of Konf, so why the guffing heck would I want them now!!!
There actually is no difference or improvement whatsoever ... a pointless upgrade that's just wasted my time and flooded my computer with the ego of Terry Semel.
I have not had any such problems with Dashboard, particularly the last one

That last point was a good one. It seemed funny that he was all upset about Apple copying his utility but he never mentioned that he used someone else's work to make Konfabulator work.
It would be nice to see both Konfabulator and Dashboard succeeding, even though I don't use either.
i think in the next update, they will have dashboard 2 and you can have widgets on the desktop....
