Konfabulator on OS X puts Microsoft's still unstable Active Desktop to ABSOLUTE SHAME!

Apple should buy this up, integrate it into OS X, and get content providers on board.

Agreed. But, in slight defense of Microsoft (I can't believe I'm doing this!), active desktop is FREE, Konfabulator is not. :(

But yes, you are right, Konfab whips arse! :D

Konfabulator definitely rocks.

One gripe is they should not force you to look at the shareare window on your desktop at all times until you have at least used it for a week or two.

I don't understand the point of Konfab. What does it provide that would not be achievable by other means? It seems like every single Konfab widget could have been written not to use Konfab at all. Quartz transparency and shapeless windows are not exclusive to Konfab.

I think the point is to give Arlo Rose 25 bucks so you can get some nifty new memory leaks.

Also, the first time I ran it: KERNAL PANIC!

It's just like Kaleidoscope: Cool for a day, then you realize its utterly a waste of power and time.

I like Konfabulator, and I think it would be great if Apple hired Arlo and Perry to put together something totally integrated with OS X.

Konfab is cool as-is, but it could be so much cooler if Apple made it part of the OS.

Nah, the last thing OS X needs is more eye candy. Do yoy really wanna devote 50% of your system resources to drop shadows and 30 colors of faux-analog clocks?

I agree- Konfab was overhyped. Its cool for a few minutes but then you realize you can't really do much with it on( atleast on an iBook). Also i mean i haven't seen much that was awesome, how many times can one look at the weather time or stocks.

I have to agree with you on that. This is definitely something that should be added by users who choose to do so, and not come included with the OS.

arlo and perry do NOT work for apple...

arlo used to when he worked on kaleidoscope

and it's not integrated with os x...it just uses things that already are integrated into the system...

for a discussion about why konfab is utter crap, click here
