hiya all,
one more question as you might guess ;-) well, your right.
Well basically the story is the following. I tried konfabulator, and like it really well, but, the widgets, they are movable on the desktop. Isn t there a way that you can t klick on them, so that you can put for instance files and folders above them ?
Only allowing the widgets to be moved when you click on the konfabulator sign in the topbar ?
I ll definetly buy it , but well, only if the widgets can be fixed, so that they will not use the already limited space on my desktop.
tia.

In answer to your question, no, you cannot use the Konfabulator runtime environment to 'lock' the widgets in place.

However, that's an excellent idea. Have you emailed Arlo about it?

Sounds like a great feature for him to bake in.

 Konfabulator is not the sort of app you want to be using if you have limited desktop space.

I think the upcoming Konfabulator 1.1 will include some variation on this idea, since a lot of people asked for it.

With very little code, you can also hack the Widgets and force them to be locked in place. Widget "programming" is very easy.

Besides locking the widgets in place, another solution would be to have "icon widgets" that could live in the Dock. For example, I sometimes run MemoryStick (to see RAM usage), and I like to keep it Hidden because it displays the graph in its Dock icon. Of course this isn't a good solution if you're a Dock-hater or if you have 300 icons in your Dock and it's too small to see.

hm, how are you doing that thing with folding in the dig ?

well i ll wait for konfabulator 1.1 than ;-)

I update it manually. I wanted to do something to encourage non-folders to participate. I figured showing a score would create a sense of competition, getting more people to join the MacRumors team and fold. A bunch of other users have taken my lead and written it into their own signature. This gets the folding message out beyond the Distributed Computing forum.

Should be any day now...

Since we've tacked folding onto this topic, why doesn't somebody with widget programming experience make a widget for folding progress? That would be a great way to incorporate one of our favorite utilities into our favorite way to save lives.

Sorry if i sound dumb but i have to ask because i dont know,

but what is this program with the strange name "konfabulator" and what is a "widget"<---are they kinda like midgets??

well, i don t have anything against it if somebody got a question, i got many for to.
But just asking, and keeping people busy is not the right way. What about google ing for konfabulator ?

to answer your question however :
