I've seen posts about this card so picked one up. The good news is that CF cards transfer more than 2x as fast and I can finally use a USB 3 external drive but sadly nothing attached to it goes to sleep properly and I get ejection warnings when waking with my 4,1.

I picked up Jettison as a trial and it seems to do the job so far but my real concern is that it's worse for the HDD having it "eject" rather than hard drives sleeping a few times a day. Also the external drives never sleep like they're supposed to so I have the app eject them when I'm not making a scheduled backup.

Does anyone else have better luck or am I just being paranoid about having it constantly eject drives and remounting them?

You should read this thread and this Review.

The error message is an OSX bug, it's not harmful, only annoying. It happens on Apple's own USB 3.0 ports at times as well.

Thanks I just looked through them. My problem is that neither my card reader or external drive remount upon waking which is why I tried jettison.

It seems odd to me that your card reader would eject, unless it had a flash card inserted at the time. I get improper eject messages on my external drives, but they all seem to remount by themselves when the Mac Pro wakes up .... but never a message or problem with my USB 3.0 card reader. The Jettison app seems to work well at eliminating the OS X error messages on my system.

You are right if there's no card in the reader it's fine but I left a CF card in it accidentally when it went to sleep. Upon wake I got the ejection error.

So far neither my OWC drive or the CF reader remount without Jettison. So glad someone made an app to do this automatically without having to pull the power plug/plug it back in every time.

Thanks for the replies everyone, good to know at least my drives aren't being damaged.
