I am running a 20 inch iMac with a secondary monitor plugged in. I really like the secondary monitor freeing up my main desktop space. However right now this luxury is gone as the second monitor is now hooked up to a nix box.

I was wondering if I can use a KVM switch between the Mac and Nix box allowing my secondary monitor to continue working, but displaying Linux on that same monitor when necessary.

Couldn't find anything about this on the forum already so figured I would ask. I have already tried using VNC withrough Chicken of the VNC, but it was far too slow. If somebody knows a better VNC program, or why mine might be running so slow I would appreciate that too.

you should be able to use a kvm switch since all its doing is taking the input from the iMac and Linux Machine and then allowing you to pick what input goes to the monitor so I would think that is just forwards the signal from the selected device as if it was connected directly to the iMac or Linux machine
