KVM switch for Mac/PC use?

Hello!

I'm looking for a KVM switch that is compatible with both a Windows PC and a Power Mac. I've got a great wireless mouse and keyboard (Logitech MX Duo) and I'd like to use it to control both of my machines.

The key thing is, I've got two monitors already, a 20" ACD and a 15" for the PC. So, I really only need a "KM" switch, if possible. I'll just leave the PC hooked up to the 15, and the Power Mac hooked up to the 20 (of course ).

Anyways, does anyone have any suggestions? For the Canadians out there, I noticed Future Shop sells a Dynex 4-port USB KVM switch for $59.99 - has anyone tested this with a Mac?

Since I don't need to route the video signal, I'm interested only in keyboard/mouse compatability and price.

The only caveat I can find is the lack of security. I'm not tech-savvy enough to use SSH and all that, but I might give this a go anyways.

How is the speed? Is there any lag/slowdown?

The expensive part about a KVM is the V. Get a cheap USB switch. I bought one for my Mac and PC from Newegg for $15.

I have a Dell 2005FPW that I share between my Mac (DVI) and PC (VGA) and I can switch video between the two at the touch of a button on the display. I can't, however, change the keyboard from one to the other the same way. So, I connect my mouse and keyboard to the monitor and run the USB cable from the monitor to the switch instead of to the computers. I then run my USB cables from the switch to each computer and when I want to switch between them, I push a button.

synergy nonsense

i tried for three days to get synergy working.. it's a waste of time.. if you're looking to do anything on the software side, setting up Remote Desktop Connection is the simplest (as long as your Windows system is XP or 2003). Other than that.. get a standard USB KVM Switch with good reviews
