Well there's glitches on my MBP - but then I discovered the ATI X1600 isn't supported. So back to Windows for me where it plays nicely.

I had L4D2 on Windows so the Mac version was free and I installed it.

I am running it on a new i7 iMac and I would say that the performance is right on par with windows, possibly even a slight advantage.

For comparison, I run Windows 7 via Bootcamp. Both settings are identical on both OS's (thanks to steam, love that!). Native resolution which is 2560 x 1440. Anti-Aliasing Off, all detail levels high, antistropic filtering at trilinear, I've tried higher but I just cannot see the difference, ymmv.

On average, 45-60 fps at these settings in both OS's. I think in heavy scenes the Mac has a slight advantage but that could be a seat of the pants rating.

End opinion, if I ever have to re-format my bootcamp install, I won't bother re-installing L4D2, it runs just fine on OSX.

I've just bought it but servers continue to be overloaded...can't download it in order to test the game on my iMac.

So, I have my GT330M oc'd on the windows side so I am not sure if it's an easy comparison. What I can definitely say is that at 1440 (native) it runs best at Shaders-Med, Effects-High, Models-Med, 4xAF, 0xAA. This gave the smoothest playable experience. Knocking the shaders up will give a big IQ boost tended to chug a bit which I know will be ironed out in time.

Now, the interesting thing was knocking the res down to 1152x720 allowed all settings to High and it ran wonderfully with 2xAA. The big surprise to me was how much better that resolution looked on the mac side compared to the windows side. I barely could tell the difference between the native and the 1152. Perhaps it's an IQ issue with the Nvidia drivers on windows, but 1152 on the mac looked superb and is definitely the route i am going for the purty eye candy.

thanks for the input guys, this is good news, i have no more space on my bootcamp partition. :)

Hi guys, running hackintosh here.

AMD Phenom X6 clocked at 4 ghz
Asus M4A88TD Motherboard
8 gigs of G.Skill Ripjaw DDR3 1600 memory
Crossfire x2 ATI HD 5870's

All settings, anti-aliasing, etc.... on max

Lag? What's that?

It will likely run 'better' on PC due to the graphics drivers available in Windows but it's not the kind of game the needs to be on High settings to enjoy. Additionally, I'd be willing to bet we will see some driver updates from Apple soon as we did shortly after Steam was released.
