Just installed Windows 7 on my iMac so 'buying' some games for it. One game I've been wanting to play since release is La Noire. I have 2011 high end 21.5 model iMac.

What detail can I run La Noire on with native resolution?

LA Noire isn't out for PC yet.
And what do you mean by 'buying'?

Probably the same thing as 'torrent' some games.

Why do people even hint at or emphasize it? It's not exactly what all the cool kids are doing. A lot of people don't condone it here and others aren't exactly patting others on the back for doing it. So just keep it to yourself. We don't need to play a game out of figuring out how you get your stuff.

I agree if you can't obtain the game by legitimate means then don't try and obtain it at all. Certainly don't come on to a forum like this asking for help if that's your intention.

Nobody knows yet because the system requirements aren't out, but you should be able to turn most if not all of the bells and whistles on. It is a console game, after all.

The fact that it's already been released on consoles already doesn't mean anything and you can't assume just because that is the case it will run at high settings on a PC or Mac of those specifications. Especially as the game isn't even out yet for those formats.

It's safe to assume that, unless it's the worst optimised thing of all time, if your Mac runs any other modern console game at high settings then it should be the same for LA Noire.

But given how poor the PC port of GTAIV was...

In my experience I've seen PC versions of multi platform games run better then their console counterparts and vice versa. In my opinion it's not safe to assume that just because a game is already out for the consoles that it will run well on a PC or a Mac.

Obviously consoles are pretty much standard across the board and the game can be optimised to run the same on all of them. For example all PS3's are the same so a particular game will run fine on all of them. PC's and Macs are not all the same and it's not possible to make a game run efficiently on all of them. In other words there is no guarantee a console game will run well on a PC or a Mac.
