Hmm, it is powered by Windows XP Embedded...

I was in the market for a NAS (enclosure, as I already have enough HDs) myself. After a lot of researching and one returned DSM-G600 (Rev. A). I settled on a Mac Mini. The thing is I wanted my NAS to be a printer server also. So I found a few in the market that fits the bill. But I relaized I was more than halfway to the price of a Mac Mini. I already have a USB drive kit with all the storage I need, which I can plug into the mini and share over the network. So I decided to get a mini and use it as a NAS and a printer server, and of course should my PB every get sick I have my mini to fall back on to :)

Well, frankly, the fact that it's XP embedded is IMHO a good thing when it comes to compatibility with a 2003 domain. (At the moment I have a lot more issues with my X-serve, than any win2003server in the company , though i have to admit that most problems have almost been solved now and hopefully all issues will be history next week)

Though it is tempting, the mini isn't really a practical solution for me :D

thanks for your reply
