Tried a different USB port?

Try the drive on a different computer.

If USB doesnt work on a different computer perhaps the USB controller from the enclosure is shot.

Hi folks .
Yes i tried it on a macbook pro no joy.
The drive was bought about 2006 but i never used it over usb till now. i got it for my G5 originally and though the drivers may have been out of date but there doesn't seem to be any updates anywhere for intel or wouldn't it matter?
Thanks Ronny

Hi,

It is possible for the USB to be defective but not the FireWire. Boards with multiple interfaces have different controller chipsets. It sounds like you've narrowed this down already and confirmed that only the USB is broken.

If its from 2006 the warranty has expired. Most drives made that year had a 1 year warranty with a few that had a 2 year warranty. You can contact our support team to see if there are other options or get some more information on the drive itself at 503.844.4500 (USA) or www.lacie.com/mystuff.
