Lagging when scrolling up/down the webpage

I'm tired of permanent safari freezes, which have occurred after moving on El Capitan. Mac will just freeze for a few seconds when I scroll up/down. Didn't experience that problem on Yosemite. So would like to know is there any way to downgrade to Yosemite? My mac came with pre installed Yosemite, but cannot find it in "Purchase" section in Appstore

Then you should be able to revert to it by starting an Internet Recovery. This will download the Mac OS X shipping with your system, which in your case, is Yosemite.

Be sure to backup data though.

To be more specific, you have to hold option–command–R immediately after the boot tone to enter Internet Recovery.

There is no way to ‘downgrade’. You can only format the disk, install the OS and then manually import the data again. Importing with Migration Assistent may not work.

If you're more descriptive with what you mean by "my mac is still laggy", someone might be able to help you. What are the specific behaviors?
Also add a more complete list of your machine specs.
Are you using any security software, etc.?

Yea, this would tend to suggest that it wasn't el captian that was at fault in the first place. As the poster above asked, what are the specific symptoms of this 'lagginess'?

For example, when I open http://www.apple.com/uk/macos/sierra-preview/ it will lag when scrolling up and down. On some other websites it will freeze for 3-4 seconds when scrolling up/down.

That's a pretty clean report. I don't see anything very troubling, maybe @Weaselboy or one of the other more knowledgeable members will have some input.

The User Launch Agent : com.google.keystone.agent.plist : is related to google product(s) update and I don't see that you currently have any google apps. If you've uninstalled them, you might as well uninstall this as well.

I saw that you've posted to the Safari 'freeze' thread so you know there's been widespread complaints about this. As I skimmed through the threads, other than the usual - note the exact time when this occurs then check the Console; start in safe mode then normal mode, check behavior in each; set up a new user account to check behavior; use a different browser.

One thing I didn't see mentioned there and it would be relevant to the page you linked to earlier - If you haven't already, go to Safari Preferences -> Security -> *untick* Allow WebGL. Any performance difference? This likely isn't a solution but it might be a clue.

For what it's worth, recently for a few weeks I used Safari* as my daily browser. I had no freezes, like most others. If this is an OS X and/or Safari bug, it's not going to be easy to find at the user level.

* two extensions - WoT, and uBlock as advanced user with 3rd party scripts and frames blocked globally; also several static filters.

It seems like there is no solution for that. There is only one guy on apple forum who is trying to help, but he gives the same suggestions all the time ("delete caches", "delete adobe flash" etc.) and they solve nothing.

Tried all of these but it doesn't help.
I paid like £1200 for this s**t thinking it will work like clockwork but have to deal with laggy animations and low GPU performance.

I use uBlock in Safari in the mode mentioned at the bottom of post #10.
As I recall, @Weaselboy uses Adguard. I'm not sure of its capabilities beyond ad blocking.

Yes... I just went through this thread and tried every link you provided and they are all perfectly smooth for me in Safari in El Capitan.

Environment

Early 2011 MacBookPro8,2 with 4 GB memory, build 16A286a of Sierra booted from an external hard disk drive limited to USB 2.0.

AMD Radeon HD 6490M 256 MB and Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB and as far as I could tell (from System Information) the AMD was in use during those tests.

Thoughts

@blago you might try something.

In a Terminal window, run the command below then bring Safari to front and (Command-R) reload the affected page.

defaults write com.apple.safari com.apple.Safari.ContentPageGroupIdentifier.WebKit2SuppressesIncrementalRendering 1

Expect the load of the page to be slower, but then scrolling within the loaded page might be smoother.

To revert to the default:

defaults write com.apple.safari com.apple.Safari.ContentPageGroupIdentifier.WebKit2SuppressesIncrementalRendering 0
