Daft question, but what is the lag time between a new iOS release and the same version being shipped on iPhones to stores/online distribution?

I don't know what 'lag' you're referring to. I have just received my 6s and there was no lag on the version of iOS that came shipped with that

Hard to say. It could vary store to store as well. Depends on how quickly stock is refilled and when that new stock was shipped from Apple.

Rough guess would be anywhere from 1 week to 2 weeks. Could maybe be 3 weeks sometimes. Too many variables to really pin point how soon after.

Oh I see. Sorry for mis-understanding the question.

Why do you ask? If there is an update since phone was manufactured and boxed, then download it when you buy it.

My 6s didn't come with 9.0.2 I had to download that when I turned the phone on.

Thanks for the pointers. Just wondered as I'm aware that slight iterations also find their way into production around the same time as new releases like point Ns.
