Which do you guys prefer? I set mine to landscape. It feels more natural vs. portrait mode.

Really depends. Most websites are longer than they are wide, so portrait usually makes more sense for me there. But if I need to type anything, landscape is far easier. Watching video you want landscape, but I prefer reading books in portrait. Games tend to work better in landscape but it depends on the game. Basically I find myself switching back and forth all the time. I even flip it completely upside-down when I want to listen to audio but rest it on myself (this aims the speaker up).

Landscape, if only for wallpapers, which are normally landscape format. There are tons of landscape wallpapers but few that are high enough in resolution for portrait.

Is it weird having the button off to the side?

Makes me wonder why apple didnt choose to have the button in the landscpe configuration originally. I mean the portrait layout default makes sense for the iphone, the ipad, not so much imo

If anything, having the button on the side makes things easier, since it is around where your hand is holding the ipad in landscape. Saves you from having to reach to the bottom of the device.

Turn to landscape with home button on right.
Activate screen lock switch.
Use Dremmel tool to shear off screen lock switch.
Enjoy.

There is no normal way to hold the ipad, so how do you know which side is upside-down?

I've found landscape is best for using safari, since things are a little bigger and easier to read in my opinion. I also think typing in landscape is a lot easier.

I use portrait for some other things though, like reading books seems better in portrait.

I'm very glad you can alternate between the two orientations very easily, it really makes it a great device. I find myself using it upside down sometimes just because it really doesnt matter.

Portrait is absolutely the most comfortable way to hold this slightly heavy device with one hand while working/tapping with the other. The balance and weight distribution is just better and easier on your fingers gripping it.

IMHO, Landscape is preferable in all other ways.
