i have an iPhone 7 Plus and the keyboard language detection (between English and German) works great. I put the same backup on my new iPhone Xs Max and it is working as well.

However I cannot get it for the life of me to work on my iPad Pro nor my iPad Air 2 (not the same Backups) which is super frustrating especially when using the Smart Keyboard. It is always „thinking“ in German with no attempt to suggest English words.

Interestingly enough my cousin has the same issue on his iPad and iPhone 7. for him it only works on his old iPhone 5S.

I already reset the keyboard dictionary and re-downloaded the dictionaries multiple times with no luck.

Any other ideas?

It's app-limited. Works in Messages.app, but doesn't in Telegram.app, for example.

Wouldn't surprise me if it just didn't work at all on iPad. It's a half-baked 'feature' that 3rd party keyboards solved in 2010.

Wow, no wonder. I've always wondered if I missed any settings that allow this.

Doesnt work for me on iMessages. Like I said it works ANYWHERE on my iPhone but not on my iPads. Super strange and annoying
