I am a swedish bloke living in Sweden however I still prefer my operating systems in English (its easier to find information on Google as one example), so I have installed Sierra with English language. But if I try to speak with Siri in Swedish, which I prefer, we do not come to terms on how to launch applications.
Apparently all built-in OSX applications have different names depending on what language one has installed Sierra in, which seems logical and I suppose is the same for Windows, with the exception that in Windows the actual filename is always the same. The filename for notepad.exe does not change whatever language Windows is installed in. Apparently OSX does not work the same.
So, I have a bunch of built-in apps installed, TextEdit, Activity Monitor, System Preferences etc that obviously are called something else in Swedish and Siri refuse to launch any app unless I manage to figure out/guess what the Swedish equivalent is. Since OSX obfuscates the filenames it seems like the entire OS just magically changes language. One of the reason automation/scripting works so much better on Windows, filenames still keep their names whatever exotic language the OS might be installed in.
I can't believe I'm the only one with the same issue. Has anyone found a work around to possibly make Siri bilingual when it comes to names of built-in applications? Why else is it even possible to configure Siri in a different language than the one Sierra is installed in? You can only use her if you know by heart what every built-in app is called in another language, regardless of what the text beneath the app actually say the app is called?!
Standard Apple 1.0 implementation. Close, but not quite there yet...
