Ok I bought a PDA, because I needed some excel files with me on the road, plus it has satnav. I bought Pocket mac, to use on my Imac G5,and I hate it, pocket mac that is, changes all the dates and everything when copying excel sheets from Imac to PDA.

So I thought I will buy a new intel macmini, use it at home then take it with me on the road and plug it into a tft touch screen in my vehicle. But then some one said why not buy a laptop. never thought of that, So what laptop should I buy, nothing to fancy just something I can use on the road for spread sheets and maybe itunes, if it has ilife might be a bonus. Any ideas what would be the most cost effective one to buy for around £300-£600 second hand.

does the apple store do re-furbs??

They sell merchandise that's been opened and returned at 10% off. The store closest to me used to have a big pile of returns that they'd put out on the weekends but they've stopped doing that now. We have to ask about them because they're stored in the back room.

the online store does. its on the bar at the left of the page near the bottom. You can also get one thats a little worse (like a 30 gig HDD and 256mb ram- but u can upgrade the ram) for less money.

On the right side on the apple store online they generally ask you, "Are You Looking For A Great Deal?" - click it for refurbs.

thanks guys, went into an apple store here in the uk, and now I am confused, I went to buy a new ibook, when an assitant approached me and I explained my dilemma, she said that your pocket pc might work better when the new macs come out with boot camp, which runs both osx and windows xp, is this true, I asked her for more info and she suggested I look on some websites????. I said what like MacRumors, she gasped and said we are not allowed to talk about them in the store ????????? whats all that about then??.

Any way looking at the ibook I felt its to big for what I need and when she said about the new macs I thought I would go for a macmini with boot camp, for my son and I could use the sync in windows on the new macmini. Please some one tell me this is the right choice. I also said wether she new if apple would bring out a pocket pc in the future, she said a bigger ipod is coming out but dont think it will have this option. I wish they genned up there staff more, whats the big secret:mad:
