I recently purchase a lock for my mbp and now I am looking for a non-software alarm to go with it so I can make fully sure it will not be stolen. I did a search but all I came upon was software alarm and such. Thank you.

Uh.. what does this mean?

There's no such product in the world..

I mean, even if you hand-cuffed it to your wrist, it COULD be stolen. Somehow. Probably messily and painfully with a hacksaw, but we won't delve into that one.

How much money do you want to spend? How could you possibly assure that it won't get stolen when you aren't at home? Considered hired goons as protection?

I know you said you aren't interested in software alarms or anything but this is a great piece of software I just bought and it's only $30.

It's called Undercover, by Orbicule. You should check it out, it's really worth it if you're serious about security.

So, you're looking for a fiber optic cable that an alarm will sound if cut, blah blah blah? What if they simply rip the cable out of the computer (completely possible)?

this has to be the most far out questions ive heard..... fitting an alarm to your computer. come on.... what do you expect to happen to it?

I was thinking of something along the lines of this actually.

I've seen a few like these but they are few and far between.

Have you ever thought about getting insurance? I'm gonna get some... You put in the dollar amount for a computer and it will generate the yearly fee.

I put in like 5000 for Laptop and extras and it was 250 a year I think.
