I have an iPod touch (3rd gen) that I completely wiped and updated to iOS 5. Ever since, whenever I try to select one of my large Smart Playlists that I use to organize music by rating, the iPod hangs or freezes completely. If it ever does come out of it, it takes a very long time to load the playlist, then an equally long time to shuffle it. During the time it's taking to load the playlist, the entire iPod is useless, and sometimes it never does unfreeze. If I try this through my car stereo, it just disconnects the iPod with an error message. This never used to happen in iOS 4, no matter how big my playlists got...is anyone else having this problem?

Thanks!

Yes! Finally a person with the same problem as mine except mine is a 4th gen. Actually mine freezes when adding a song to a playlist. iTunes freezes for like 10 seconds before the song shows in that playlist. It's really annoying since I am fond of making playlists to arrange my music to what and how I want to listen to.

I tried dragging and dropping a song to my iPod Nano (4th gen) and it adds a song very smoothly.
