Hello everyone,

Can anyone for whom it’s no problem to factory reset their iPhone confirm the following bug I had in PB1 and PB2? Wonder if it’s still there in PB3.

Device: iPhone SE 2020
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)

Reproduce bug (translation is probably inaccurate):
- (Edit: set normal text size to 5 or 6 or 7 of 7, can’t remember exactly)
- Go to Settings - Display and Brightness - scroll down to the last item (‘screen’)
- Choose ‘Bigger Text’ instead of ‘Standard’

The phone then says it needs to reboot for settings to take effect. Once you do that, it won’t come out of its boot loop and the device gets hot. A factory reset via a Mac is the only solution I thought of.

I’ll be looking forward for your experiences, thanks in advance!

(Reported to Apple a week ago or so for PB1 and PB2)

Best regards

I wish I had a lighting-to-HDMI cable to see if the iPhone would give any info. Despite the boot loop, where the Apple logo would show for short whiles (as in normal startup), the home button gave some response still when the logo went away. The screen itself was completely black at those times. Not even the backlight on iirc

Are you sure it’s caused by larger text?

“Are you sure it’s caused by larger text?”

I’m quite positive, but someone should confirm it to be sure. It happened twice to me: once when I had the setting on in iOS 16 when upgrading to 17, and once in a clean 17 when enabling the option.

(Edit: it’s the option where one can choose between the setting: standard or large. The phone gives blurred visual examples of both, affecting the icons on Home Screen as well. Not te be confused with the regular text size, which I have on marker 5 of 7, but during the bug maybe on 6 or 7).
