Hello
last Apple update made my 3.1 end up with 2 beautiful white screens... had to reinstall everything, BUT before that, I had to buy an Apple « approved » video card to see what was happening on the screen. My actual video card could not allow that. Then, I managed to use dosdude tools properly to go back to square one... a nice learning curve for me... and a high cost adventure this 3.1 Mac Pro purchased on Internet... Anyway, now the App Store has had a fixation of updating me to the new security features after the safari updates, now it has turned into a Mojave harassment. That is a Nono I am told with a 3.1. How can I stop this nonsense.
thank you
Dan

Probably what you can do is go to System Preferences, choose "Software Update" and Uncheck "Automatically Keep my Mac Up to Date".

Or on the Apple Icon dropdown menu, choose "App Store" and go to "Preferences" and Uncheck Automatic Updates

It's also advisable to keep a backup of your main boot drive.

Thank you, I had done that to prevent going back again to the 2 white screens and be forced to reinstall; now it is asking me if I want to do a restart after download to install the update waiting in queue, I can see the update in the “line up; as would be any other apps ready to be updated on IOS, iPad OS and now Mac OS High Sierra. It is asking for a security update, and a Mojave update. Their was a 2 on the top right system preference icon, then, after a “come back” only the number 1 for the security update. I guess a compatibility scan saw that Mojave could not work on my system. Every time I boot, or come back from leaving the Mac for some time, a pop up comes in my face... So the question remains the same, how do if I get out of this... if I may have been mistakingly vague for lack of experience in Mac OS. I only have 30 years experience in WAN, MAN, LAN Connectivity that is very different from Apple OS. Please excuse my lack of clarity on my first question and maybe pour grammar, French being my first language . Thank you for your help... at my age those pop up in my face are not fun :-(
Thank you for the adivise of a backup, I am trying to use one of the four disk in the Mac to do that, it is recommended to use Capitan, I am trying to find out how, the system is telling me I can not install an older OS ...

You’re welcome DanMar. No worries on the English grammar, it’s ok. With auto updates, I have also encountered a similar situation when a pending update is in queue via repeated popups on the right side. Sorry, so far I have no other info on how to remove that repeated Popup. What I do swipe the Popup to the right to make it go away. That popup will reappear the next day I start up my Mac.

There’s this MacWorld UK article on how to disable automatic updates but I think you’ve already done this and you probably already know some of the info in the article below.

The instructions HERE work for disabling Catalina update notifications on Mojave while leaving other relevant updates showing up.

Should be straightforward to adapt to disable Mojave update notifications on HiSierra.
