There's an app on the Mac App Store called EtreCheck.

It's donation-ware and very good at finding and diagnosing issues. You might want to give it a try.

Yea, hate to be that gal - but a 2006 - that old horse might have hit the end of the road. Not sure if you’ve had it from the start and/or how much use it’s gotten, but near the 15 year mark it’s probably ready to take it’s last breath and go to sleep permanently.

Yes it’s true the advise is to let go of this old “horse“ but step back and try to contemplate just how much fun it will be in ten years to have a vintage iMac to demonstrate to other what it was like in the old days. Plus there will also be the possibility that what you now have will start to act like a T-Bill and will start appreciating a bit each year. Sometimes it’s worth it to find a way to live with an aging friend.
