Hi there. Sorry for the noob question, but I am a little confused.
My iMac (late 2007, 2.4 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo 24") can probably do with some upgrades at this point as I don't really have the funds to upgrade to a new system. I was looking at the mactracker app and it has me a bit confused.
I would love to throw a bit more ram in it. I currently have 4GB, which I thought was the max, but I am seeing conflicting reports. I think I have read on macrumors that it can go up to 8gb. Is this true? The Mactracker app says that it can somehow support 6gb. Or at least, it says 6GB (actual), 4GB (Apple). I am not sure exactly what that means. And how would you get 6GBs? A 4gb and a 2gb? Crucial says that it will only accept up to 4gb.
Also, Mactrakcker says that the max HDD is 1TB. Does that mean it is the max that Apple shipped it with, or that you can't put anything higher than 1tb. As in, it won't accept a 2tb drive?
Lastly, what is a good compatible HDD to upgrade to. Looking for the highest amount of memory at the best price of course
Thanks to all who reply. You guys are always a great help!
