Hey guys Im looking for some insight on what Im going to need to do to migrate my stuff from my late 2008 15'' MBP running El Capitan to a new 2018 15" MBP? I don't want to lose my stuff.

I have not made a purchase yet, but I know its almost a matter of time until this machine will not power up again. The battery is in ok health, could be replaced, but as it is this laptop never lasted that long off of the power cord anyways.

Will I be able to put the SSD thats in the 2008 MBP into an external USB drive and migrate my files to the new machine with out the new and old OS causing any issues?
