I bought an Asus Proart asus proart series pa246q to hook up via dvi wire from apple and the screen looks washed out I am not sure what is wrong but the same photos on my old Dell xps machine are much more detailed. I only have the original 4gb ram in the 2009 2.53GHz macmini , can anyone tell me what I might be doing wrong with this..

maybe i have the settings wrong I am hoping someone here has used this monitor

Have you tried selecting other Display Profiles? Or using the Calibrate option?

Both are in System Preferences->Displays->Color

Oh, and is the brightness at the right level?

There is a guy on DPreview that recently got that monitor. I think he posted some tweaks he did (JimF) so you might check there.

I had it in my cart but cheapened out at the last minute and got an NEC 23". i'm pretty happy with it so far, but i haven't done any picture stuff on it.

Go to System Preferences, Display, and check what resolution the 24 inch screen is actually using. If you don't use its native resolution, the display will look rubbish with any computer.

You may have to set up contrast etc. Use the "Calibrate" option.

I will also check at dpreview.com thanks everyone for the replys. my older Dell lcd monitor is also a more glassy looking screen, this one seems dull so maybe i need to get used to it .. I will also post the name of the dell when I get back near that machine. both computers are in well lit natural light rooms .. i will check dpreview now and post what i find thanks
