I have a late 2012 21.5 iMac running High Sierra and for a long time now I've noticed that my trackpad and/or magic mouse has trouble re-connecting when I wake the computer up from sleep. My wireless keyboard has no trouble waking the computer up just by hitting any key (and works immediately once the computer is up and running) but the mouse or trackpad do not (I am currently using the magic mouse, not the trackpad - but have had this same issue with both). When the computer wakes up (takes some time now, sometimes the screen flashes or goes gray for a couple of seconds - takes a minute or two to wake up) but once it finally wakes up, my mouse will not work unless I turn it off and then turn it back on. The trackpad does the same thing - except it was a little better because sometimes I just had to wait it out (about a couple of minutes) rater than having to turn it off and then back on.
So my question is, is this normal? Is there any way to fix this if it's not?
Also, if I let the computer sit and the screen goes black but i'm not away from it for an extended period of time, I have no issue. I'm guessing it's not sleeping yet at that point.
Thanks!
