Hi. I have a cracked display beyond usability. Late 2013 21.5” display. iMac A1418 14,1

I picked up a good replacement lcd from a reputable shop.

When I got home, I found that The connector on the end of the cable on the LCD I bought that connects to the motherboard is slightly larger than the one on the cable of my cracked monitor. The other end of the cable that snaps onto the top of the monitor appears to be the same size for both.

My cracked monitor part number is LM215WF3(SD)(D1) CP4327502Q6DGLJA9 215C7FBK002A1 KL8V
The replacement is --------: LM215WF3(SD)D5) CP46036007LGC8GAH 215F1ECK02C86 KL2V

I'M wondering if swapping the cable from one to the other will work? Is this the camera cable since it attaches at the top center of the monitor?

See pics.

Hey yeah looks like your replacement screen is a non-retina 2015. Replacing the LVDS from your broken 2013 one to the new one should work absolutely fine

Wow, great news. The LVDS stands for?

“Low-voltage differential signaling” (I didn’t even know what it stood for myself!).
But the LVDS cable is what connects the screen to the actual logic board - the same cable you’ve shown

TwoH, thanks so much! Great advice and SPOT ON! Worked, however the replacement display is defective, but that is the sellers issue. I got a wide vertical band of narrow lines of different colors. Ugh!

Hmm... Not defective, per se. Just damaged/cracked.
Ask that shop to test the replacement display (if possible)
