Hey, :)

I'm still using my loyal 27" Retina iMac from late 2014 (Catalina 10.15.7). I've always taken good care of it, never used it during prolonged sessions at full brightness, shut it down every night etc. Never had any issues with it, until something I actually discovered two days ago. The brightness level of the screen seems to have degraded. I usually used to have my brightness level around three or four bars. Now I seem to need at least 50% brightness during nigh time and closer to full brightness during day time.

Is this possibly software related and (hopefully) can be easily fixed? I really hope it isn't the display itself that's giving up. I know the computer is a bit old now, but I'd rather wait at least until the ARM iMacs are released before upgrading.

Thank you!

install a fresh new copy of any compatible OS in a usb disk and boot from it. If it is software related you won't have the problem. If it is hardware, you still will have the problem.
