Late 2014 5K iMac image retention

As the title says, I have a late 2014 5K iMac with image retention issues. It happens after an hour or two, maybe less; a screensaver will clear up most of it but it's still visible if you look hard enough. I work with graphic design, it's not a huge issue yet but it will bother me if it gets worse (and I plan on keeping this computer for as long as it will last). My AppleCare will expire in early december, so I'm looking for advice on whether or not I should send it for repair now. It's quite a hassle because there's no Apple support where I live, so I would have to ship the computer to another city.
