The 2014 iMac has 32gb DDR3 RAM in 4 slots and it has been working very well over the past years until recently it started to crash starting a few months ago. I also noticed that it mostly crash during the time when its in sleep mode, it rarely crash when I am using it. When this issue first happened, I cleaned the ram slot (lots of dust) and it seems improved it a little at the beginning, but then it starts to crash again. Yesterday I finally decided to do a clean big sur reinstall from a USB drive, and left it as usual for a whole night, it has been good, when I was just thinking a reinstall fixed the problem, it crashed again! and this time again it happened when I left it in sleep mode. It seems something wrong with its sleep model? Any help is much appreciated!

See the problem report below:

Try preventing it from sleeping:
Energy Saver
Prevent computer from sleeping automatically when the display is off

and, of course, don't deliberately put it to sleep.

It could well be the RAM. Try removing two of the sticks. If it still crashes, try the other two sticks

Let me try that. I used to use Ctrl + Shift + Eject to turn off the display, I assume that won't put it to sleep?

I did tested the RAM with a tool as well as the mac hardware diagnose, all saying good. But the memory was upgraded RAM instead of original ones. So still there is possibility there. I also use upgraded SSD. So these two h/w are the most suspicious ones, but the upgrade was done right after I bought it like 6/7 years ago, and it worked well until Catalina upgrade. I am not a fan of keeping my mac always upgraded, but sometime it gives me no choice..
