I've noticed my iMac is overheating a lot lately and it has even re-started due to it on a couple of times. The iMac is definitely being used a lot more since I started WFH and has bee moved to another room that is quite warm. I'm thinking it might be excessive dust.

Is there anyway to clear dust without opening it? Would really like to avoid that.

Thanks

I had that exact issue with overheating and re-start for quite long and I even performed all standard troubleshooting, clean install of macOS and the issues were still there, but now it is fine for some strange reason.

If only Apple would allow it to be opened like the original flat iMac could. Put a decent iMac Pro cooling system in it...

But hey, we can charge people $700 for a quad pair of casters.

What does MacFanControl or iStat say about the temperature?

After 5 years cleaning the cooling could be necessary. Unfortunately it has to be opened to accomplish a cleaning.

That's the RPM, Temperature would ben better. But the Fans not run that high, so temperature should be ok. hmmm

which temp should I be look at in iStat? Another crash there and the fan wasn't even running that high.Screenshot 2020-05-12 at 14.03.33.png

This screenshot of the SSD is worrying. It crashed at about 13:45
