I have constant issues with USB3.0 devices on El Capitan in the sense that ALL my USB3.0 devices (DVD drive, external HD, and USB hub) require unplugging and reconnecting after my iMac wakes from sleep before the devices are recognised in OS X.
USB2 devices are OK. It is becoming extremely tedious to have to do this every time!
I don't see any posts on this here, is no-one else experiencing this issue?

I've not run into any issues, though my USB 3 devices are limited to a single external drive.

Hmmm.... so, when you wake your late-2015 iMac up from sleep, your USB3.0 drive is recognised immediately by OS X?

I haven't tried it lately, so I can't say for sure. I hadn't noticed any issues with any of my connected devices and to be honest, I leave my computer on all the time.

Ah OK, it probably doesn't help then as it is only after waking from a deep sleep, i.e. overnight, that it happens with me.

I have an external hdd, an external ssd and a ubs stick that were all present and correct when my late-2015 iMac woke from sleep this morning. All usb3.

Thanks for that. Was that after an overnight sleep? Do you have Standby switched on?
Could you possibly post the results of 'pmset -g' on your system?
Thanks a lot.

Thanks Jan.K, but it's not the hub, it's ALL USB3.0 devices.

To make it short-
no it´s not just You.It´s a severe APPLE issue.
IMHO they saved big time on the hardware, or chafed something significantly.
MVP Retina, iMacs etc. all sport this problem lately. I do have the 2014 rImac.Same thing.USB problems.

FIX THIS APPLE. It´s your duty.

No issues here....

Yes, that was after an overnight sleep.

Thanks for that. Your settings are more or less the same as mine, it's just PowerNap that is different. I frankly cannot believe that Apple has allowed something as basic as this to go through into the release versions.

Yep, i've noticed the same thing, but only had my mac since Wednesday, and only had a USB3 hub since Friday, so haven't a lot of examples to draw on. Definitely noticed it yesterday morning and this morning, but not always all of the disks.

Is it the power nap setting then? I'll try switching it off on mine today and see what happens.

My Power Nap is off, and I have the issues all the time, but worth a try.

You could always just "power down" at night and reboot in the morning.
Takes only a minute and everything will be there, all waked up...

What works, works...

Yes, but that's not the point. Shouldn't have to do that, and anyway, this issue can be signs of hardware issues.

i googled a bit on other sites and someone said they spoke to Apple support who suggested using the "Prevent computer from sleeping automatically when display is off" option in the Energy Saver control panel so that the computer doesn't go to the hibernate state.
I'm going to try that over this week and see if I still get the issue.
In theory, it means it draws a bit more power, but compared to the numerous USB disks with their power bricks all plugged in all the time, it's probably not going to be noticeable on my electricity bill :)
