Late 2015 Ret 5K No Boot/safemode after 10.11.3 update

The machine was working perfectly on whatever version el Cap it came with. Couple hours ago I did the latest security update 10.11.3. Trying to restart and it goes as far at the white apple logo---crashes when the progress bar gets half way. Will not boot to safe mode--only can get to recovery mode. Can't even go to safe mode using the terminal.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Purchased 29 OCT 2015. 27" i5 16gb ram 512 flash m390

Got things up and running again. From Recovery Mode I did the Restore From time Machine. Backed up to day before yesterday. El Cap is back down to 10.11. Looks like everything is still there and sleep/starts/restarts fine.

Think I'll stay away from 10.11.3.
