Hello all. I am having what seems to be a graphics/pixel problem with my late 2006 imac. There are red patches and pixels on the screen and i dont know why?
The specs are
2.16ghz
120gb ssd
Os Lion 10.7.5
4gb ram
Running wmware for windows 7

Can anybody help me and give me some good advice or solution for this fix?

Thanks
Ryan

Likely the problem is caused by the GPU, very common on the Late 2006 20". I've had success lessening the severity by boosting the fan speed using SMCFanControl, but that is not a permanent fix and won't eliminate the problem entirely. The only permanent fix is to replace the logic board, which may not be worth it on a Mac of that age.

Another option is to disable the GPU kexts, but without acceleration performance suffers in certain applications and gaming is pretty much impossible (unless the game is very lightweight and CPU-Based).
