Ever since I patched to 10.14.5 Beta (18F108f), Google Drive File Stream (latest version: 30.1.36.2343) is no good. It displays the following error twice in a row:

So I went into system preferences >> security & privacy >> privacy >> accessibility, unlocked it, then checked the box for Google Drive File Stream under the list "allow the apps below to control your computer."

Then tried quitting File Stream and re-opening, but it says:

clicking on "sign in" repeats the process.

I tried rebooting my Mac but still no luck...

you would expect some kind of message at the bottom of settings >> security & privacy >> general like "google drive file stream ___ was blocked from opening" with an "open anyway" button but nothing shows there.

There should be a different button that you can click to enable the extension. Reinstalling the app may cause that to show up; rebooting the computer may also do so.

I'm having the exact same issue. I rebooted, reinstalled and still nothing. Any ideas?

Yup. Same issue on my end. I also see at the Google Product forums that many others are having the same issue on their end as well. Something in the 10.14.5 update beaks Google File Stream.

I did try going into system preferences >> extensions >> all and notice that Google Drive File Stream was unchecked. I checked it and it made no difference on the issue. I'm not going to bother rebooting again because I doubt that will do anything...

Have exactly the same response of my MacBookPro here since the latest update.
Tried a few workaround that normally work, but appears that the option to "open anyway" after an application was not opened the normal way was not activated when running GFDS

I have found a solution to this problem!

It does involve essentially turning off the system that is blocking the goole drive file stream extension so please be aware that you are disabling this system at your own risk and it could pose a security risk (usual disclaimer etc etc).

If you reboot your mac and hold Cmd + R, you will enter Recovery Mode. You can launch the Terminal from the menubar.

Once you're in the terminal, enter:

spctl kext-consent disable
and hit return. You will then be told that the system that by default blocks these extensions has been disabled and to restart your mac.

If you then reboot your mac, you should find that your existing installation of Google Drive File Stream is back up and running. If you have reinstalled Google Drive File Stream whilst trying to fix the issue, you may need to log in again.

Out of the above and contact with google Gsuite support got an even cleaner solution by just adding one source in stead of leaving the door open.
Suggested solution that worked for me:

Authorize Google Drive FS in macOS system (Admin privileges will be required):
1. Restart the mac OS
2. Immediately while the system shows a black screen, hold down [Command]+[R] keys to boot into the Recovery System
5. Click the Utilities menu and select Terminal
6. Enter the following commands:
Code:
spctl kext-consent add EQHXZ8M8AV
7. Close the Terminal app, click the Apple icon and select Restart

Confirm if Google Drive FS is authorized, by executing in a Terminal window the next command:
1. Open a Terminal and launch the following command:
Code:
sudo spctl kext-consent list
2. Confirm if the system throws back the Identifier: EQHZ8M8AV

Broken for me again in the latest Mojave update (18F132). Not only that but it's also broken on my 2011 MBP running Sierra, which ran a new security update from Apple. Again, it's hard to tell if the issue is on Google or Apple's side.

Are you sure this isn't a Google File Stream issue? As I now get the same error on 10.13.6.

As if by some miracle, this time I saw the "google software was blocked from opening" with an "open anyway" button under the general tab of security in system preferences. After clicking open anyway it worked again.

I noticed recently that Google Drive File Stream has been updated, and with it came Google Docs, Sheets and Slides. Has this happened for anyone else? Is it safe to delete those Google apps?

Yep that sucks so hard, can't work natively anymore and need to open the browser for down-/uploading my documents. That's the point where I'm thinking about switching to Apple Drive...

I saw those too but you can delete them if you don't need them.

Thanks, this worked for me! However, note that fast user switching between different OSX users with different G Suite accounts results in exactly the same error. Previous versions seemed to work fine (recently bought new iMac and doing a clean install) but now it doesn't?! Help, anyone?
