So after the latest update, when a message comes in via SMS or iMessage through BiteSMS, the screen doesn't light up. The phone still dings or vibrates, it just doesn't light up to get my attention.

Any ideas how to resolve?

Wow that was productive.

Any idea why it might not light up on incoming text?

Are you trying to be sarcastic and unappreciative and then asking for help?
Was just letting you know that it works fine with me and another 3 iphones near me. So its an isolated issue with yours.
Something else you have installed probably.

And you are welcome....

Do you have lockinfo?

Unappreciative? Yes. It gives absolutely no productive assistance to a thread to reply to an anomaly that yours is working fine. Obviously I realize that most people's are working fine, otherwise there would be many postings on here saying "Mine is NOT working" ... but to reply with "mine works" is like if you go to the doctor saying your stomach hurts, the doctor replying "mine feels fine" ...

Works fine here, too. It's some other tweak you installed that's not playing nice with it.

Delete the last tweaks you installed and send yourself test SMS's until you find the resolution.

And you're welcome too!

Applejuiced, I love you, but he's got you there, lol

Unfortunately it's nothing else... well I only have a couple other tweaks installed, and they've never had an issue in the past, it's just something with this new version that isn't lighting up the screen.

Well this isn't a doctors office. It's a jailbreak forum that discusses quirky and buggy software. When you say my bite app isn't working correctly, and someone (or multiple people) reply with "mine is working fine", that helps diagnose your problem because then you know it's not BiteSMS in itself, but most likely a combination of packages that are giving you the problem. So actually when people say "mine is working fine" it's helpful to you because you'll know its not a bug specific to BiteSMS. A doctor is paid to diagnos your symptoms. We can only all pitch in with our experiences to help determine your problem. A better example you could use is, a bunch of people go out to dinner and many have the same main dish but various people ate various appetizers. You say your stomach hurts, and some say mine is fine while others might say they have the same stomach problem. Then through process of elimination you'll find who had the same meals and appetizers and you'll know what combination made your stomach upset, or in your case, your phone upset.

Oh by the way, mines working fine here.

The arguments on MR are hilarious. Reminds me when me and my little sister used to fight as kids.

Do you have view on lock screen turned off?

Where is that setting? The only thing I see is one under lock that says "Display Contact Name - On" and then display contact off. I messed with both those settings to no avail

It's actually under your notification settings in the settngs app. That's the only thing I could think of that would prevent the screen from lighting up.

I actually hate mine lighting up so I turn it off.

BiteSMS doesn't appear in the settings>notifications menu

No it would be under the normal messages settings. Scroll all the way to the bottom of the messages settings and there's one for view in lock screen.

OMG you're a GENIUS. Somehow that toggle got turned off, or maybe on installing the new bitesms version it toggled it and I hadn't noticed it... wow, thank you so much for bringing that up. It's back and working now.

:)

I wish I had the same symptom as the OP. I'd love to have all lockscreen notifications stay on except that the screen doesn't light up. Used to love that feature of LockInfo 4. The workaround I use is I turn off lockscreen Notifcation and then rely on the little blue bubble alert in my status bar.

Good job Fizz!

No problem, I think bitesms does toggle it for privacy reasons or something along those lines.

Lockinfo 5 does have this feature! Under notifications, toggle "Wake Device" to off. Unless I'm misunderstanding you

Whoa! Thanks! I haven't used LockInfo 5 since the very first public beta. It didn't have that feature then. But with each new beta release, I keep learning of new reasons to go back to LockInfo. I loved the old LI4 feature of being able to use springboard widgets and since LockInfo 5 doesn't have that, I stopped using it.

But maybe its time to dust off the old license and get back at it. Thanks for sharing that bro! You the man!

Pretty much.

Lol:D
Pretty much.
But let him figure it out, he knows it all and with that kind of attitude I'm sure everyone will be running to assist him:D

It's not attitude. I'm very blunt and to the point. I don't enjoy reading through 40 unproductive responses to get to one that helps.

Let me ask you this... if you ask a question, and 20 people answer with something that provides absolutely no relevant resolution to the question you ask, how do you feel? Agitated? Annoyed? As if they're just wasting your time?

There are a lot of people that post on here for the sake of posting, and it just makes for endless threads. I'd like to think for some they just don't realize they are posting a response that gets the OP no closer to a resolution, but I think sometimes people post just for the ego boost, or to make themselves feel better or to give themselves the feeling of being helpful.

Bottom line, my ideology is if a response doesn't help, then why post it? Not trying to be unappreciative, just matter of fact, and looking for something that will assist. I'm happy you're not sharing the problem. I searched for the issue and it clearly isn't a widespread issue. There are tens of thousands of members on here, so why would I need to know that they're not having the issue? Someone not having the issue doesn't fix the issue I'm having.

No it would be under the normal messages settings. Scroll all the way to the bottom of the messages settings and there's one for view in lock screen.

So I re-enabled that, and now when a message comes up it comes up with the pop up with who the message is from, and gives me the show\reply\open box which is exactly what I want! Thanks.

The only issue I'm having now is that the box is transparent, and behind it there's a "new message" box, that looks like the stock message notification. It's more of an annoyance than anything else. I went into messages and turned messages off for notification\lock screen, but when an inbound message comes in, both boxes are still popping up. Since you were so helpful on the last issue, any idea as to what may be causing this issue now?

Thanks as always! I DO appreciate your assistance greatly!

Any response pertaining to the issue is valuable input. Weather you like the response or not.
Lets you know if its widespread or only to you or a any other individual that might have the same settings or packages installed as you.
Anyway, I rather not waste any further time reading or responding to your questions so the ignore list is great:)
