Greetings!

Does anyone happen to know the latest compatible Logic Pro and Final Cut Pro versions for Mac Pro 5,1?

• Mac Pro 5,1 Mid 2010
• OS X Monterey 12.6.3
• OCLP 0.6.1

Thank You!

The last versions of FCP and LPX compatible with Monterey are 10.6.10 and 10.7.9 respectively. FCP 10.6.10 is from November 2023, and LPX 10.7.9 is from July 2023. FCP 10.7+ and LP 10.8+ require Ventura.

If you have already purchased them, you can go into the 'Purchased' section on the App Store, click 'Install' on each, and a window should pop up saying that the current version is not compatible with your OS, would you like to download the last compatible version. If you don't have them already, you will either need to update to Ventura or use a newer Mac (running 13.5 or later) to download them.

What GPU do you have? That could also play a part in whether FCP will run at a decent speed or not.

That should run pretty decently for 1080p editing in FCP. Probably not the best for heavier and/or higher than 1080p workloads though.

It is a good all-round GPU for the 5,1 though. The Navi cards that came after it (RX 5000/6000) can run in a 5,1 (even the top-end 6900 XT), however Ventura stopped these cards from working as the drivers need the AVX2 instruction set to function, which the CPU's on the 5,1 (and also the 6,1/2013) physically do not support.

So the only Mac that the RX 5000/6000 cards can work in with Ventura or later is the 7,1 Mac Pro, along with any Haswell+ based Macs which can support an eGPU.

Thanks for the additional GPU info, theMarble. How you and your peers can retain all these tech details is well beyond me. Grateful you're there! 👍

Being at the same subject on my 5.1 as well and Monterey (opencore ofc) - logic pro - any particular settings in Logic to prevent micro stuttering when 10+ tracks ? i have 16 gb and dual xeon.. SSD.. should be like butter ? I/O buffer size set to 512 and its almost 99% but i want 100% :) . If You have inspirational hint i be happy.
