Long story short(hopefully): I frequently access newspaper archives(through the newspapers.com service). Since the most recent iOS update(13.1.3) I can no longer fingertip-scroll up and down a page. That option first disappeared through Safari and now can’t be done with Firefox or DuckDuckGo. I CAN scroll normally on a laptop or desktop, so this is clearly an iOS issue—it happens across multiple browsers and newspaper archive sites. Has anyone else noticed this? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance. UPDATE: I just learned that I CAN scroll normally on my iPhone(also recently updated to 13.1.3) using any browser, but not the iPad. So it’s something unique to the iPad. Help!

I think the problem is most likely that with iPadOS iPad Safari now, by default, renders the website as if it is a desktop website and not a mobile website. The solution is to make Safari render the website as mobile. This can be done for a single page or for the entire website as a permanent setting. To change this, click the little font size icon in the left of the address bar (it is a small ‘A’ next to a bigger ‘A’). That said, I’ve found some websites don’t work as well on iPad in either mobile or desktop rendering.

Eureka! It works. Looks like I’ll have to do that each time, though. But at least I’ve found a way to view and scroll. Thanks!

After clicking on the AA click on ‘Website Settings’ with the gear icon. Turn off ‘Request Desktop Website’. That setting will apply permanently to all pages on the website.

Double Eureka! Thanks.
