Im sure this has been discussed a million times in the past, what is the latest on needing to press the home button in, to access the springboard?

Im trying to avoid my home button being worn out. Is there a setting to make it so you can rest your finger on the home button to get directly to the springboard, like iOS 9?

You can turn that off, go to:

Settings, General, Accessibility, Home Button, then turn rest finger to open on :)
