When I check my firmware on my Apple tv it says I have 4.2, and that no updates are needed. But I see folks here talking about 4.3, is there a reason why I can't get that firmware. I have the ATV 2

The latest Apple TV 2 firmware is 4.2. However, several weeks ago Apple released a beta version of the Apple TV firmware that was called v4.3, but that was changed back to v4.2 for the actual release. No one really knows why they did this, but one assumption is that the Apple TV still isn't using the same core code base as the remainder of the iOS devices.

Your Software Version is 4.2 but your OS Build is 4.3. On the About page in Settings, you can click the select button and it will show that your OS is 4.3. It seems a lot of people don't understand there is a difference between the Apple TV software version and the OS version.

The reason they do this is so that they can do updates and improvements to the Apple TV on top of the updates to the OS and the Apple TV is able to remain on the same OS version as all the other iOS devices.
