I just got a Macbook pro about a week ago and I used water and a non-abrasive cloth on the screen to clean off some fingerprints, and I just recently noticed that when displaying light colors especially white, this is hard to explain but it seems like when I look at the screen the plastic or w/e the surface is isnt as clear. Was there a protective lair that I wiped off? or is this how lcd displays are on all laptops and im just not used to looking at them? Its not a big deal, im just curious to know. Sorry if the question is stupid!

There's no layer of anything that you could have removed with water and a soft cloth. If things look hazy, you might have just smeared oil and dirt on the surface. Try getting a cleaning wipe designed for LCDs (like iKlear). If you're not talking about blurring, could you try a different description?

I think its nothing, and just how Lcds are made...I'm used to stareing at Crts all day.

Re-reading your post, maybe you mean that you can't see "into" the display? Like there's no depth and whites and other bright colors appear maybe...flat? If that's the case, this is, as you guessed, the way TFT-LCDs are. The image does (and should) appear right at the surface, and this is most apparent with light colors because depth shadows and things which would be visible on a CRT simply aren't there.

Maybe this will help, the screen when displaying lighter colors I can see the plastic from the screen and it seems a little foggy. Its not dirty because I wiped it off.
