I have acquired about 3% mastery in reading KP logs. I've had an undue amount of practice lately.

I've learned:
1. They aren't good!
2. They are most often related to RAM or to a cable/connection, seating of a card, but they can be a software problem.

Can any guru discern the t-leaves below? If my problem isn't the RAM...are we maybe looking at a logic board? I've been getting 3-4 kps per day!

Here is what I believe to be the salient lines. Can anyone give me some hints at what is going on here?

Based on my vast knowledge of reading Kernel Panic Logs, it looks like the processor could be overheating, which, in turn, is causing your Kernel to Panic.

All joking aside, I would download smcFanControl and post back the temperature that your computer is running at.

I can't say what the temperature was before...but right now CPU 1 is at 109 degrees, which seems low. (It's not in use right now)

Today I did a thorough cleaning of the fans, boards, etc. and re-seated everything. I also ran DiskWarrior. Oh...and I pulled half the RAM out. So we'll see if it runs any cleaner now.

Yeah, 109 degrees is a great temperature to be running at. Hmmm.

Let me know how it runs with certain RAM in and post back any recurring Kernel Panics.

Possible RAM problem

From my experience with the kernel panics, we would say that the KPs were probably caused by your RAM sticks. I found the defective RAM stick using the Apple Hardware Test.

The following lines in the KP report caught my eyes:

Frank...I've tested the RAM several times with TechToolPro. I guess I could run a longer/deeper test with Apple Hardware Disc.

Do the lines that "caught your eye" point to RAM?

A Machine Check (more commonly known as an MCE, or Machine Check Exception) is most commonly caused by bad RAM.

BTW if you want to become a Kernel Panic Ninja and be able to get anything useful out of those stack Backtrace functions/args, become an Apple Developer (it's free) and download/install a Kernel Debug Kit that's appropriate for your OS release. Then you will get symbolic backtraces instead of gobbledigook like "0x972cdfb8".

definitely looks like either bad ram or bad motherboard to me:

DIMM: 0
Channel: 1= that's the DIMM and channel showing the errors that caused this log

this is a pretty standard ECC error log actually.

Just to finally wrap this up.

I ran an overnight RAM test and my stem froze. So I got an RMA from Other Word Computing and exchanged the RAM.

It's been running pretty good since then.

hey guys, i have a similar problem. i just had 3 restarts with this error. i always open last apps and it restarted again and again (lightroom, capture one, opera ... running). the 4th time i made a fresh restart and it worked.
