Despite initially not liking the rear design of the luckycoin/ bullstrap for the 17 Pro I still ordered one as it was on offer and I have to say, it’s the most comfortable in hand case design I’ve used this year!

Unlike the Andar the rear edges are curved to match the device rather than squared off.

So I think I can overlook the lack of camera plateu cut out as it’s so nice to actually use.

I don't know, it still looks so weird to me

Is there any open bottom leather cases from Europe? Except my fav Wiiuka who have that ugly covered paleau design this year:/

The half of the plateau being covered up like that weirds me out. Also for people that likes to show they have the latest iphone this case defeats that purpose I reckon as it looks like older iphone models in this type of cases

I recommend lonli edition in that case or one of the metal camera ring cases if you can deal with that.. I don’t like metal camera rings

I understand the sentiment but for the price and considering the quality of the leather I don’t mind it that much. Plus in black looks pretty stealthy but yeah I gotchu

I am hoping that the changes mean a better product than being sent a rushed product. Maybe the initial batch arrived in Texas and after their inspection, they didn't like something and that could be better for us.
What if, and crazy thought here, they were just honest with their customers from the beginning instead of lying and delaying this long. Sending tracking numbers weeks early with no product to ship.

Just insane communication choices being made by whoever is in charge at BlueBonnet.

I didn’t buy many tan cases for my 15pro but of the two I got the Keyway was definitely closer to the Apple saddle brown, at least for the 11 series. The lucky coin has more of a red hue. What’s really crazy is how minimalist the Apple leather case was. It weighed less than 21 grams and added very little bulk. I know cases got heavier with addition of MagSafe magnets and camera rings. It also has a much lower lip than most of the leather cases I’ve tried recently. I really miss this design. It’s so much more comfortable in hand with the rounded sides and the open bottom with the lip in the back of the phone so it doesn’t dig into your pinky while using one handed.
I added some leather conditioner the other night and it’s soaked in now and the leather feels amazing.

That's what I don't understand haha. I ordered one last week knowing it would take longer, but it says it's in stock, and shipping is 3-5 days. My tracking still just says "order received", no tracking, and no communication when I asked what the status was. Just wild choices by them.

Anyone have one of the YMW crazy horse cases from Ali Express? I just ordered one for the 17 pro, to good of a proce to pass up.

I haven’t had a leather case in several years and I’m pretty pumped about moving back in to one.

A couple of pics of the Nomad Traditional Leather Case for the iPhone Air. It just arrived today, so I don’t have much to share other than a couple of first impressions: it weighs 34 grams, the fit is very good, and the leather smells and feels excellent (better than the Andar Aspen IMO). Looking forward to seeing how it goes…

It looks awesome. I just couldn’t get used to the open sides.

I used the Arc Pulse and Süti Phoneback on my 16PM quite a bit last year, so I’m fairly accustomed to open sides and like the feel. I had trouble with both on the Air (fit issues), so thought I’d try the Nomad. So far, so good…

Jun is the manager of the RL store. I have talked with him a number of times, and he always is looking out for the best interest of the customer. Funny enough, I don't get that personal experience with any of the other brands. Not good or bad necessarily, but there is personal touch to RL that I like.

That said, you are correct the RL closed bottom is not the same leather feel. Feel is much different than quality of leather. The closed bottom are oil waxed, so you get that slick more smooth feel. They also don't patina like the open bottom version that is not oil waxed. It's not bad leather, just you prefer the other more raw tanned leather feel.

I feel like there are tiers here. Bullstrap and RYAN London as far as mass production leather cases go, are the top tier. The open bottom of RL and Bullstrap open and closed that is. The next tier is the RL closed bottom and Andar. I believe RL holds a slight edge here. The bottom tier is Nomad, Mujjo, Decoded, and Bellroy etc. Not bad cases, but not even close to top tier. Some of these cases are very overpriced for the quality you get.

The price plays are large part in how hard these brands are treated. Bullstrap gets a lot hate because they are far and away more expensive than the others. They have to produce some really quality cases at the prices they are charging. In the same vein, you feel like the RL closed bottom is rather pricy for the quality. Fair enough, so you hold them to bit higher standard. I can understand that, but remember your case of choice Goldfinch is cheaper than several other offers. That means you are less critical of them. Don't forget as well, you have the 15 Pro Max and don't have the worry of the CC button. This has caused these cases to be a bit off their games this year. This year it's rather hard to give a ton of praise to any of them. They all lack a bit or are way thicker than before.
Too bad many here have not tested Wiiuka. To me its the top brand there is. Minus how they went for closed plateua this year but I think they will produce open plateau ones in some months as many customers have been complaining

Accidentally posted this in the wrong thread.

Here are the three leather cases I have gotten so far.

BlackBrooke, LuckyCoin, and Bullstrap. LuckyCoin and Bullstrap are identical from as far as I can tell, besides the inside being slightly different.

BlackBrooke is the lightest, can definitely tell in hand without the camera plateau being covered completely.

Still with that said the LuckyCoin is my favorite. It's the same as the Bullstrap but significantly cheaper, though I got my Bullstrap for $50 so I can't complain. The lack of branding on the LuckyCoin sets it apart to me though compared to Bullstrap.

Love the comparisons, I’m leaning towards Luckycoin myself. Do you like the whole plateau covered?

I do actually, at least on the air. I at first didn't like it as much because the BlackBrooke case came first and I got use to it and I could actually tell the weight difference. But I love the look of it.

I’m looking for the Air as well. With the promo code the luckycoin is $31. I’m also looking at a case from a new company called Tekmomo. A YouTuber came out with what looks like a beautiful case.

Can someone explain the difference between vegetable tanned and chrome tanned leather.
Asking for someone that is old and confused. 😁

Vegetable tanning is more traditional. You’ll end up with leather that picks up patina over time.

Chrome tanning is more modern. It’s more durable, doesn’t patina as easily, and you end up with a softer feel out of the box.

It’s a shame Keyway doesn’t have full leather 17 Pro cases like they did for the 15 Pro. I enjoyed that case so much on my 15 I bought each color. I think their cases have a camera button cutout so it would be a dealbreaker anyway.

Does anybody else think there should be a separate leather discussion thread? Every year it’s all about which case is better and who ships the fastest and who stamps whose with their own logo and overcharges.

Seeing actual patina discussion and photo sharing is rare as it’s all buried within pages and pages of the above. Would be nice to see this thread get back to the original topic.

100% agree. This used to be full of amazing photos and now nothing.
