Hey All,

Does anyone have any suggestions on where to buy a nice leather mat/pad sort of like what Apple uses for the Watch try-on appointments? I'd like to lay something like that on my bed side table to set down not only my watch, but also my phone.

The only one I've really come across so far is the one from Waterfield, but I think it's a bit smaller than I'd like, and it doesn't seem to be real soft like Apple's blue mat.

Thanks!

Personally, I'm looking for something more rectangular shaped, larger, and simpler. I'd like to be able to lay out my Apple Watch, my iPhone 6+, and perhaps a few other odds and ends. Also, I'd like a leather that is very soft touch - perhaps a suede leather.

Haha I know, what should it cost? do you like it?

It's a cool idea, and for $15 or under I would probably get it just as a novelty item. But there are a few things that could use improvement:

1. For the $70 cost, this should be a premium leather like Horween shell cordovan or something of that nature. This just looks like a very basic leather, although the burned effect looks cool in some places (slightly sloppy in others like around the charger cutout).

2. The mat has no utility given that the watch is sitting on top of the charger (the leather is recessed), and the leather is not large enough to protect the ends of the watch band (the metal buckle, or the pin on the sport band, or other metals for other bands). So it's basically there just for aesthetics. I think it is nice looking, and the laser engraving is cool. But not $70 cool. It's basically $70 for a circle cut of leather with a hole in the middle. The only thing that may justify it is the custom laser engraving, but not $50+ worth imo.

Of course these are all just my personal opinions. No disrespect to the creator. I love it when people come up with ideas like this and actually execute. Things I do like:

Laser engraving, novelty, aesthetics, entrepreneurial spirit.

I think he should probably make the mat larger to cover all of the watch (including the strap ends). Maybe add in some stitching or something else that could justify the cost. It's a nice start, but in its current iteration, it just isn't worth it for me personally.

I totally agree.. At that price I could buy an aluminum machined stand. 15$ is a better price.

One version without the puck hole would be great too as this design doesn't work with Link Bracelet
